PHA Land Acknowledgment
The Port Hope Archives respectfully acknowledges that we are located in the
traditional and treaty territory of the Michi Saagiig (Mississauga) and Chippewa Nations, collectively known as the Williams Treaties First Nations. These lands have been occupied and respected over time by various indigenous peoples: the Huron-Wendat, Haudenosaunee, Anishinaabeg and Metis people.
We recognize the sovereignty of all Indigenous nations, that have been stewards and caretakers of these lands, and waters. We are grateful to reside in this territory and acknowledge that each of us has a responsibility to honour and protect these lands by walking gently and respectfully upon them while enjoying its outstanding natural beauty.
